The Accelerated Department Heads
Dave Metzger, President / Founder
Accelerated’s roots can be traced straight back to Founder and President Dave Metzger’s garage. Working from home, he applied his passion and subject matter expertise to develop testing and analysis methods for clients needing new chromatographic separation techniques to analyze for active ingredients. Seeing an opportunity to provide industry leaders innovative testing services, he created Accelerated Analytical Laboratories in Milwaukee, WI in 2007. From humble beginnings in a small garage, we moved to a 4,500 square foot facility, then 8,000, then 12,000. We are now a full-service, 19,000 square foot laboratory that performs regulatory testing for clients in the food, medical device, natural products, OTC (over-the-counter) drug, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics markets. We are the only laboratory of its kind in Milwaukee, with local, regional, and international clients.
Thomas Hirsch, Laboratory Manager
Thomas Hirsch is the Laboratory Manager at Accelerated Analytical Laboratories. Before becoming the Laboratory manager in 2019, he was initially hired as a process analyst in the Microbiology lab, but over his nearly 10 years with the company he has worked in just about every position the lab has to offer. While originally from the Chicago area, Tom received an Honors Bachelor of Science degree in Physiological Sciences and Philosophy from Marquette University in 2012 and has remained in Milwaukee ever since. His greatest assets to the lab are his critical thinking and problem solving abilities. Outside of the lab, Tom enjoys spending time with his family. His hobbies include homebrewing, table tennis, and fishing.
Melanie Ensaldo, Technical Success Manager
Melanie is the Technical Success Manager at Accelerated Analytical Laboratories. She started her career with AAL as a temporary employee in the Microbiology Laboratory back in 2014 and has climbed the ladder all the way to Project Management. She acts as the primary contact between our Clients and the Laboratory and is responsible for any correspondence regarding client inquiries, big or small. Chances are if you have a question, she’s your girl. Melanie has a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Carroll University. When Melanie is not at work she is a Wisconsin girl through and through; favorite past times are time with her family, appreciating the beauty of the outdoors, crafting, baking, brunch, and of course…a whiskey drink by a fire.
Rachel Orsini, Laboratory Safety Coordinator, Material Science Manager
Rachel is the Laboratory Safety Coordinator and Material Science Manager. She began with AAL in 2019, working closely with the Material Sciences Team to build a strong department dedicated to on-time, quality results. Customer service is her passion and she’s always willing to go above and beyond to ensure a client’s needs are met. Late in 2020, Rachel added the dual role of Laboratory Safety Coordinator and initiated AAL’s Safety Committee, which has implemented and improved upon internal policies to ensure the safety of our team and customers. Rachel is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater, with a focus on Cell Biology and Chemistry. She lives in the Milwaukee Area and can be found exploring local parks and trails with her two rescue dogs when not working in the lab.
Nathan Greenleaf, Quality Manager
Skilled chemist and quality professional with experience managing and maintaining technical, food grade, and active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) manufacturing and testing environments. Passionate about implementing lean processes, continuous improvement, and Quality excellence. Experience with compendial testing techniques including USP, ACS, AOAC, and ASTM.

Eric Doré, Chemistry Manager
Eric has 15 years of experience working in GLP laboratories in both the pharmaceutical and food industry. Eric has extensive experience in HPLC and GC Method Development and Validation to meet FDA and ICH guidelines. He has experience with pharmaceutical manufacturing quality audits and FDA audits. Eric has previously managed the launch of Lean/6-sigma initiatives for laboratory optimization and instrument maintenance programs to improve uptime. Eric has two young children, Brayden and Ava, he manages Brayden’s little league baseball team.

Heather McMichael, Human Resources Generalist
Heather is the Human Resources Generalist at Accelerated Analytical Laboratories. She started her human resources career working for a local salon and spa, then moved to manufacturing, and finally found herself at Accelerated Analytical. Heather is the go-to policy and procedure writer with a passion for payroll processing and benefits administration. She loves being able to interact with her team and lives by the quote of “putting the human in human resources.” While not at work, Heather can be found reading a book or sitting around a fire with her husband, her dog, and a glass of wine.
Rosanne Sheppard, Laboratory Director
Rosanne began her career conducting microbiology and package integrity testing for a contract sterilizer in Buffalo, New York. She pursued an opportunity with a consulting firm in Illinois as a laboratory manager before joining an ophthalmic and respiratory drug manufacturer as the Associate Director of Laboratories. Rosanne continued her career for several years as a consultant focusing on cGMP quality and sterility assurance in the medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturing and drug compounding industries. Prior to joining Accelerated Analytical, she was hired in this role to assist the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Her industry experience in cGMP operations includes aseptic fill, environmental monitoring, validation, and USP testing.
Christopher Fous, Brand Director
Christopher lends his expertise in brand design, corporate image, and strategic integration of visual and interactive design. Decades as a passionate imagineer and graphic artist have forged his abilities to both harness and sculpture Accelerated’s look and feel with a different kind of chemistry: brand chemistry.
